Fuck Blogger
From the top...
So I had to start a new blog. For some reason, I was having a lot of difficulty updating and posting previously. I'm wondering if it at all had to do with the fact that I'm using a new computer. Anyways, I don't really care. Unfourtunatly, I lost my post somewhere out there about my day in Belfast, and some other shit I've written since being here. It's time to start anew, and if you really wanna know about them, just ask me.
In the spirit of starting over, I shaved my beard this afternoon. Sold out to the man. My skin is disgusting, and in fear of it getting worse, I cut it all off desperatly to save my face. I miss my beard already. I was hoping to let it grow with my hair (which is VERY long) and be kind of this scruffy mountain man type when I returned home. Oh well. I implore everyone with the ability to grow facial hair to go ahead and grow a beard. You'll be happy you did, I guarentee it. July-October R.I.P.
Moving on. Although you can't read up on my afternoon in Belfast last week (I dunno if you ever could, hence the reason of starting over...) at least I can relay to you all my weekend in Dublin:
Friday afternoon:
Took an afternoon train outta Coleraine to Belfast, then from Belfast to Dublin. Sat with this older dude Brian whom later I found out worked at the embassy in Belfast. Kind of a tool, pretty much because he beared very simular personality traits to Joe from Aquarius. We had weird conversations, and he told me he was staying at the hotel that Bono owns, and that the department was paying for it. Something like $500 a night. Great.
Anyway. Met Jen(n) at the station, walked to our hostel and checked in. We set off in search of Corniacopia, a vegan restaurant. By the time we walked over and finally found it, it was closed. We settled on 'Al's Italian Restaurant' next door, spining old Bee Gees and Beatles numbers. Okay. The food was alright, but we should have walked a little farther down to the Temble Bar area where we found this awesome gelataria/restaurant that we ate at all three days we were there. Fucking right. Walked around the city that night and went back.
Saturday:
Bad weather most of the day. Ate hostel breakfast and set out. We spent the day across the river again checking out photo galleries, open markets with all kinds of awesome food, record shops, and coffee shops. We watched a documentary at the Irish Film Institute theater and walked through St. Stephen's Green. We returned to Corniacopia and finally ate great food. It made me miss Burlington and all of the other eateries that I like to frequent with everyone. Later that night we saw the play Stones In His Pockets at the Gaiety Theater. I think I drank coffee and all throughout the day too, and had gelati again that night.
Sunday:
Had no real agenda, so we walked to St. Patrick's Cathedral and checked out Dublin Castle. We went to Diesel and both bought jeans, and went to a bookstore by the market and got school books. We ate at another cafe/bistro type place, and ate italian ice cream once more from that place, I don't even remember their name. Soon after, we collected our shit from the hostel and soon parted ways.
Thankfully, she'll be up here in two weeks.
So what of the future? Tomorrow, I have a dinner with my International Friends family, the Wilsons, which should be pretty cool. I have to eat all of my left overs before then and Thursday before I leave again. Where too? I'm off to Germany again to go hang out with my parents while they are over there. I have to travel to Dublin (again) on Thursday, sleep in the same hostel, and somehow get to Dublin Airport from there and make a flight by 7am. I fly into Berlin and return back here on Monday. Yikes. It's sure to be fun though, and I really can't wait to see my folks.
